“Hybrid warfare is already a daily reality in Poland,” Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz warned during national Land Forces Day celebrations. “It is directed against the safety of Polish families, against the Polish home, against peace in our part of the world. Anyone who thinks the war does not concern them—that cyberattacks or disinformation do not concern them—is mistaken,” he said.
“A large-scale Russian provocation” – this is how the head of the Polish Ministry of National Defence, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, commented on the violation of Polish airspace on Saturday in Krakow at the aforementioned ceremony.
“The last few days have been a test—for the readiness and operational capabilities of the Polish Armed Forces, for the efficiency of NATO and the European Union, and for our resilience to hybrid warfare, which is taking place in Poland every day,” he said. This operation, he added, targets “the safety of Polish families, the Polish home, and peace in our region.”
“If anyone thinks that the war does not concern the, that cyberattacks or disinformation do not concern them, the events on the the night of 9–10 September 2025, proved that everything neo-imperial Russia is doing in its attack on Ukraine directly affects Poland, NATO’s eastern flank, and the whole of Europe,” said Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
Kosiniak-Kamysz also pointed to a surge of fake news following the airspace breach and urged the public to remain alert to disinformation and verify information found online.
One such fake news item was addressed directly by the Territorial Defence Forces which issued a following statement on Facebook:
“STOP DISINFORMATION!”
Claims that thousands of Poles have received summons for military qualification are false. No such documents have been issued or are planned. This is a standard attempt to mislead public opinion. Only trust official announcements and verified sources of information.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk also commented, writing on X that: “Spreading Russian propaganda or disinformation in the current situation harms the Polish state and directly threatens the security of the Homeland and its citizens.” He added that “Stupidity—let alone political views—cannot be considered a mitigating factor.”
