Quentin Tarantino has criticised the film Zelensky, which chronicles the early life of the Ukrainian President. This claim has surfaced across Russian-language social media platforms:
“At the Cannes Festival, the documentary Zelensky was shown. Quentin Tarantino wrote:
'After watching the film Zelensky, I was left with only one question. Who will give me back
my wasted time?”
While it is true that the film was screened at the Cannes Festival in May 2025, with Quentin
Tarantino and his wife in attendance, the quote is entirely fabricated. Russian trolls
manufactured a fake Instagram story, which appeared on a fan account associated with the
famous director. Russian bots have been circulating a screenshot of the fake post, making it
appear as though it came from the Instagram account tarantinouniverse.
The Russian fake was first posted on the tarantinouniverse Instagram account, which has
489,000 followers and is one of the largest Tarantino fan pages.
